Cheap Mattresses: Many people I know have one - and you know what?

All of those people prefer sleeping on cheap mattresses rather than the expensive mattress they bought to replace it.

So is it better to invest in cheap mattresses than buying a mattress costing much more?Cheap Mattresses by the side of the road

I know a person who sells mattresses for a living, they are his bread and butter - the way he makes his money.

One day we were chatting and he said to me, “you know what the difference between a cheap mattress and one of those $4,000 mattresses are?”, I shook my head. He replied “The little strip of fabric the sew in the corner”

“Surely there’s got to be a difference between the expensive brand-name mattresses, and the cheaper no-name mattresses?”

“Nope - not a thread. In fact, many of the cheap mattresses you see in discount bedding and furniture stores are even made in the same factories as the big-brand mattresses!”

Most mattresses come from the same few manufacturers.

Sure there are different styles, memory foam, box spring etc, but the only difference between a cheap mattress and the more expensive one was the pattern of fabric on the outside and the label of the seller in the corner.

I was shocked to say the least, this explained why I still preferred sleeping on my old cheap mattress rather than the new one I had splashed out a fair bit of cash on.

So that’s bedding specialists ‘big secret’ revealed, a cheap mattress is the same as one that costs hundreds more, the only difference is the amount of money the sellers make on each one.

When you’re paying more - in many cases, you’re simply paying for branding.

So with just a little research into the bedding design, dimensions and materials used - in many cases you can find a big-brand mattress for a fraction of the cost you would pay… And that’s got to make you sleep easier!

Let me know what you guys think, cheap mattress or expensive mattress - which do you think is better?

Can you notice the difference?

I'm thinking about buying a cheap Ikea bed, but getting a memory foam mattress pad. Good idea?

I'm looking at a frame that's $100, a mattress thats 150, then 100 for a mattress pad. It seems cheaper than getting a traditional bed, looks nice, but I'm wondering how comfortable it will be. I figure with the mattress pad it should be pretty solid. Any advice.

We have the same setup in my daughter's room and it has worked out very well. Have a foam mattress and traditional bed frame in my own.The foam can be hot, but for me, the comfort outweighs the heat problem. I have felt more rested, no back problems and have not been disturbed by the movements of my wife during a restless night.

You can buy cheaper ones on eBay.
Bob-o-pedic is a much cheaper alternative than Temprapedic.
If you live in the New Yokr City area, you can also buy cheap toppers from a store in Manhattan called Dixie Foam. Their website is www.dixiefoam.com
